Shopping frenzy: Bought Zoom H1 mic - any tips?

I Love YTtalk
Well, for weeks I thought about it but didn't want to buy anything wrong but then yesterday evening I thought "&%&% it, just buy one finally!". So I pressed "ad to cart" on Amazon. It's the Zoom H1 mic which I will now use for interior filming (vlogs and maybe some sketches). I read it's not so good for outdoor use but I bought a wind shield anyway. Let's see.

Does anyone else have it and has any good startup tips? Ideally I'll hook it directly into the camera.
If it works at all I might also use it in the streets for kind of interview style videos but not sure if it's any good for it.

I'm also looking into buying this or something of the sort. I want something to plug my Røde Videomic Pro into and record offboard. I wouldn't mind just buying an adapter to use my phone but can't find any. Another thing I would really like on such device is headphone monitoring.

Looks like Rødes SC6 adaptor should do the trick
