Shay Carl (from Shaytards) is back making videos

Crown

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
For nine years, Shay “Shay Carl” Butler was one of YouTube’s most prominent family vloggers. On the Shaytards channel, (4.9 million subs) Butler and his wife Colette shared their lives as they reared five children together.

In March 2017, he found himself at the centre of a sex scandal involving webcams and someone who wasn't his wife...... (I won't go into the graphic details - NSFW alert) When that scandal broke, Shay also revealed that his problems with alcohol had returned and he was struggling. He then took a hiatus.

Anyway, 9 months later, he has returned to YouTube. In a five-minute vlog, he apologises for his indiscretions, and vowed to return to videomaking. “I’m sorry,” he said “I take full responsibility, and I love my family more than anything else. I don’t know what the future holds. I don’t have a big comeback plan, I don’t have a big idea or a web series, I don’t expect any of you to forgive me. I just want to start fresh and not feel like a scum.”

Shay messed up big time and he knows it but I do feel he is a good person deep down and I believe him when he says he loves his family. His videos were always entertaining and it's good to see him back on YouTube.

He doesn't look very well though in the above video. I just hope he has given up the booze for his sake. I think he deserves a 2nd chance.

Thoughts?

I guess if his audience is ready to see him again, that's great. I just wonder about people who put their entire families up on display, and then are so contrite when their faults come to light. I think that it's pretty unhealthy to, after having yourself (and by proxy, your wife and kids) dragged through the mud like that, want to go right back to it less than a year later, and I am guessing that he's going to be contrite for as long as it takes to start making money again, then we'll hear about another "scandal." Not because he's a bad guy, but because he's as human as the rest of us and there's bound to be something else he probably doesn't want people to know. Plus, fame and addiction go hand-in-hand quite often.

I'm sorry, but this seems SOOOO fake. Like he is rehearsed and he is trying sooo hard to push out emotions. He acts like he is so upset and is "crying" but there are no tears. Something about this is a little off to me. He seemed like a nice guy before though.

I think he's looking down at a script to remember what to say, which seems a bit strange since it's an apology video filmed very casually in a car... I think he becomes a bit more genuine and off-script towards the end, but it seemed a little forced in the first 2/3rds of the video... =/

His wife recently made a video too saying she let her anger turn into acceptance. But in the video, I think she still seemed upset. I think they both still have a long way to go... :(

None of us know the entire story, but based on what we do know, if I were in her shoes, I probably would have left... x_x Shay most likely had plenty of chances to turn stuff around before things got way out of hand, and he didn't take any of them.

Yeah I agree with you all. He doesn't look particularly sincere in his video. - I think he looks terrible to be honest. Really unwell but that could be just because he's grown his beard and hair and put on weight. I don't know. Regardless of what happens in the future, he needs money to live and I guess making YouTube vids would be his easiest option since he's been out of the job market for many years now.

I think once the trust is gone in a relationship, then it's over even if 1 or both parties are prepared to try to make it work. That lack of trust and feeling of betrayal is a relationship killer and understandably so.

The first thing he needs to do is give up the booze and clean himself up a bit lol.
