Self Monetization Or Wait For A Network?

Hello everyone,
I have recently been seeing a lot of stories where self-monetizing YouTubers are getting their ad sense accounts banned for invalid clicks that they can't control (troll viewer or over zealous fan), and Google then not ever re-instating them even if they have clear proof they had no part in it. I'm just starting out (1 month put in so far) and I am a bit worried by the stories since this is happening to a lot of small-medium sized channels (Which I obviously am XD ).

I was curious as to what you all think is better; To do self-monetization in the beginning or just wait until you meet the requirement for a good credible network and join them?

Thanks in advance!!

I honestly feel doing it yourself is your best bet. I almost never see positive reviews about networks anywhere

Can i ask a noob question... What is self-monetization? I have never heard of it. Is it like, searching and contracting your own advertisers for your videos and then placing those ads inside your videos yourself?

What I am referring to by self-monetization is by using your own adsense account and just enabling the ads without joining a network.

There are some on kotaku and there are more on reddit as well.
They are a little old but I am still a little worried by this. Does anyone know if the AdSense program has been improved upon so this sort of this is not happening as much now?

That is something I am interested in knowing too, theres loads of people without issues and there does seem to be most complaints taking place a few years back. I certainly wouldnt want to risk my Adsense where a hater could easily destroy both the channels revenue and every possible chance of monetising in the future as well as YTtalk's revenue.

I completely agree, this seems to be a growing issue. All it takes is one troll user to go on a clicking spree and boom, any chance of monetizing on youtube is over. Which is why I am pretty concerned about trying to monetize as a small channel at this point. I've read that once you get bigger it's obviously not a problem because it would take a massive amount of clicks from a troll to raise suspicion. But as a small channel it can take only about 20-30 clicks in one day by someone to get your account banned. According to the victims of this already it seems Google doesn't do anything to help the creators, even when it is clearly not their fault for the invalid clicks.

As a gamer - it would be useful seeing the Partnership reviews,

I think you just need clarity on what videos you can monetise without the need for permissions. And slowly build your brand for 3 months and then get approached by a gaming network. As a new youtuber hopefully you wont come across the issues some of your friends are getting into.

Oh if your thinking about doing EA game videos forget about it (if your not with a network) they will not give anyone permission.
