Second Channel

Tom Stevenson

Who knows what I do!
Hey Guys,

I just wanted to gather some opinion and advice on the subject before I go and do it and probably waste my time!
As of June I'm going to be hit with this wave of spare time I'm supposed to fill with extra hours of work... but why would I want to push myself in a dead-end job?

I don't want to make more videos for my main channel - as thats a once a week deal.
I'm thinking of setting up a second channel which will be dedicated to me doing little on the spot rants, analyzing the news making cheep jokes at people who exploit themselves for monetary value (Celebs)

Is it worth it? Will people watch it? and what whitty name would I give it - as my branding is 'notttom'

I think people would watch that content, I'm just not convinced that it would be worth opening a new channel.

You could always just do it on the same channel as a "miniseries" sort of thing, that way every single viewer will be on that channel, and when they subscriber, all of the fans will be on one channel rather than two combined.

For example, say that you do your current videos every Sunday (for arguments sake). You could always do Rants every Tuesday, Analysing news every Thursday and the cheap jokes on the Saturday.

Just consider doing it on the same channel before you go ahead and create a new one. It may benefit you more in the long run, in many more ways than what I mentioned above.

I agree with Cameron dubs but if its stuff you feel don't belong on your channel then its up to you
Make a new channel if you like :)

I actually prefer when things are split into different channels
Like vlogs, games ect.. That way I can subscribe to the different channels and get stuff I'll want to watch

eh splitting your channel is splitting your fan base, you could do it if that's what you truly desire ,just dont make 1 channel pay for the other by uploading to one and forgetting the other.

Totally get what you guys are saying - My thought is that it would be 2 separate personalities - I think if I did the thing I want to do on my main channel I might scare people away - My main demographic is 13-17 year old girls, the other channel would be more like my stand up material which is aimed at 20-30 year old men - generally.

So would it be better to split the game so nobody gets offended or anything? thats what I'm thinking - they wouldn't be aimed at the same people so a seperate channel may work better. I mean nothing is written in stone. I just needed some opinions and you guys have made me think about it :)

I said to myself that I wouldn't use (I made one for the future) a second channel until I had at least 10,000 subs. It's such a waste of time to divide your efforts for a small or nonexistent return.

If the point is to simply entertain yourself or use your spare time to create a new channel then go for it you have nothing to lose. Just keep in mind that the new channel won't help the old channel, but you never know you will probably attract a whole new crowd.

i currently have two channels but thats also because my second channel is with my sister and it's an entirely different audience and genre than my first channel, which is about travel.

I think it depends how vastly different the content is. i think playlists are fine and easier to maintain by keeping it on the same channel.
