Require Assistance For Customizing Channel

Hey guys and gals.

I figured I would post here to see if anyone could explain to me how to create a banner and background. The actual physical aspects of it.

I don't like how our channel looks right now; I want it to really capture who and what we are.

I have a phrase I want to put across the top as a banner, along with Twitter and social networking things.

I want people to click our channel and be like "whoa; these guys know what they are doing! I think I will watch some of their videos!" (maybe not with that much enthusiasm; but one can dream, no?)

Any advice would be wonderful! I want to get working on this asap. (I don't have photoshop anymore unfortunately, so if you know a free alternative as well that would be great!)

Ahh, Thank you Drakkart. I figured I needed to be a partner, but I wasn't sure! hahaha Do you know any of these preset template sites? That could prove to be a temporary fix until we can create something better
