Hi, so i have this small question, does rendering video in Sony Vegas also make the video file smaller? Because i have never tried rendering on SV but i'm gonna start on it.

I don't use Sony Vegas, but ultimately your resulting filesize will come down to the compression/quality settings you choose.. I for example record my gaming footage in 720p.. The raw uncompressed AVI's total about 20gb per episode. The final rendered file (MP4, HD 720p) is about 700mb (or less).. It all depends on your compression/quality settings

In Gaming the raw files are going to be MASSIVE, after you've rendered out a 10 minute video in 720p with gaming it will be between 400MB and 800MB.

My videos are all in 720p and the one I'm uploading today for next week is 134MB, it's 6:46 long.

Sony Vegas, like other editing programs will compress the video but will keep the quality - That's what its designed to do. As long as you put the right settings in it will be fine.

What settings are recommended? I used to render in Movie Maker in 720p and the file size was about 100mb-1gb depending on how long the video is.

In Sony Vegas there are a lot of in-built templates which you can choose from, just click on File -> Render As, and in the window that pops up you can select the template you'd like to use. If you're making gaming videos, I'd go with WMV as type and a 720p/1080p template depending on your PC's specs. ;)

Well if you record your videos in 1080p then yeah, choose the 8mbps one, that's the best you can get as far as I know. :p I used it in the past and it's nice. Oh and you can customize them all by pressing the 'Custom...' button next to the template selection.
