Render settings and upload speed.

Well basically my upload speed is 0.9mb/s which isnt the best as you know.
So the next video im uploading is going to take 4 hours to upload, due to it being around 2gb.
What settings are others using?
Currently im using WMV as yeah the files might be a tiny big bigger but i see much greater quality the mp4, 720p with 6mb bit rate.
What about the rest of you?

Wish i had that kind of internet, the council wont fibre optic enable the area i live in. So im stuck with this :(
I tend to just leave my uploads on overnight and hope youtube does break

I render 30FPS 1080p. Rendering a 3 minute video takes about 10 minutes. Resulting file is about 200-300MB in side depending on whether I have video or still frame as background. Upload take between 10-20 minutes.

If you have a 720p video that's 2GB, it's either very long, or the quality is set too high for YouTube. Play with the settings to get a smaller file size.

Yeah i have, for some reason Vegas kept changing my template even if i saved it. so was using 10m bit rate. Fixed it and changes it to 6

I always use the h.264 codec when uploading to youtube. Keeps the file size relatively low but is still high quality.

I render all my videos in 1080p 30fps.
A 15 min video can typically be around 2 to 2.5GB, and can take about 30-45 mins to render.

I have a 2MB upload at home, where it can take 2-3 hours to upload.
I have tons of bandwidth at work, where I can upload the 2.5GB in just under 8 mins ;)

Therefore, most of my uploading is done at work, and then I do all of the settings and annotations etc at home.

My last video published was 4:54 long. It was in 1080p @ 30fps in .mp4 format.

The video took 18 minutes to render (I think it's because I had a lot of picture in picture clips). Uploaded at 5mb/s it took around 10 minutes.

If you are using vegas, have you checked out the sticky in this forum? It has some tips of lowering your bps to make smaller files for faster uploading and maintaining quality.

I render my videos in MP4 at 1080p at 30FPS and about 25mb bitrate. But I have the luxury of a fast internet connection. I experimented with different bitrates that influenced the file size dramatically. My videos are roughly 15 minutes in length and depending on the bitrate I chose I got either a 1gb file or a 5,5 gb file. And the difference in quality wasn't all that noticeable even before the upload. So my advice would be to keep the bitrate as low as you can without losing too much quality. And maybe invest in a better internet connection if you can/want.
