Recording xbox and PC gameplay

Hi. I'm wanting to do some let's play for games on xbox as well as on PC (at seperate times), so I'm just looking around for a piece of hardware that can do both. Two popular choices are the HD hauppage PVR and the Elgato game capture, but I don't know if they can do both.

So I'm here, seeking the knowledge and wisdom of people who know these products and whether they can let me know if I can easily swap them around to record either or?

You don't need a capture card for PC gameplay. You need a screen recorder (like FRAPS).

For XBox gameplay the Elgato is a simple and effective tool, if a little pricey.
 
I currently have FRAPS, but after a while it makes my frames drop horribly so I was just wondering if there's an external way of recording. Oh well, thanks for the reply :)

use dxtory, much better in most cases and no fps drops if set up correctly!

THe other way is getting a second PC to do your recording :D

I have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro for Xbox recording and for PC Recording I use DXTory which is much better than Fraps.

Can you elaborate on this? How is it better than Fraps? I use Fraps myself, but if there is something better than it, I would be interested in trying.

uses less resources and you can use various codecs for smaller file sizes and less stress on your pc :) google dxtory vs fraps and you'll see!
