Recording using fraps sound issues STRESSFUL

Hello everyone,

I currently am trying to record some GMOD TTT, Murder etc videos using FRAPS. But i am having some stressful problems, my headset is a Creative Draco HS-850, the sound card is onboard 7.1 audio.
my problem is in game i can not be heard by other players and i use the X button as default to chat, there fore when i try to record gameplay FRAPS only records my voice and then game sound, this is my current settings list on my sound card:

Now i was told to set the stereo mix as default and the mic as communications, did that and then FRAPS did not record my voice? HELP PLEASE?

Thanks

I wouldn't even use fraps for both sounds because you will sound low or like crap either way if you managed to get it working. Use fraps for ingame sounds which means untick the microphone option and then download a recording program "audacity is nice and free" and set your microphone up in audacity, it should do that by itself but just in case. And then press record on audacity, go into the game, have a count down and when you hit 0 press the recording button and talk.

And then mash the two together? will either have the other voices too? because i need to talk to the other players?

Fraps will pick up the ingame sounds which will also include their voices, audacity will pick up your voice, so in editing take the two clips and sync them together "that's when the count down comes into play" and bam you got yourself a video. That's how I do it in my videos if you want to hear the quality but I do a few edits in audacity before I put it in Sony Vegas

Okay thanks, but will this also fix the problem that people can not currently hear me in game? i was thinking use audacioty for a different usb mic and then mash it together or is there a simpler way for them to hear me?

I've always found in-game voice chats to suck :I
Why don't you guys use Skype or something instead while playing? :)

audacity only allows you to be heard of recording, if they cannot hear you ingame then that is either an issue with the mic or it is setup wrong in the settings. I would try under the steam setting and set your mic up there if you can be heard in other programs though

i mean this is the settings since i just fiddled with them
the thing is, i change the mic settings to default i can talk to them, but it wont record my talking, i change it to default communications then stereo to default i cant hear game sound due to the fact i have my sound playing through my headphones? you understand?
