Can anyone recommend a good recording program for games?
I am currently using fraps, but it uses too much memory
What I am looking for is something with pretty much the same quality and features as fraps.
Preferably a free program.

Dxtory. Not free but honestly you probably aren't going to find anything free that doesn't give a huge a** watermark. You could use bandicam also.

Before this place gets spammed with Dxtory people.(No offense if you are said person) Just get OBS. It's free, low-resource, and you can customize it to your heart's content.

Since you're already with Fraps, I'd suggest staying with them, they record in the best quality and capture the highest amount of frames. Also I'm not sure which version you're currently using but the later versions also record in 1 video file rather than multiple and I believe also offer the ability to separate game video and audio from your external input audio.

I use Xsplit and use the mp4 recording, you have to pay for it but I had to pay to use it for streaming anyway. Really handy for pc, x box using a mic, not using a mic, adding music and watermarks etc.

If you want it free, you can take a look at ezvid, if you want an affordable game video recorder, you may try Smartpixel Camera.
