Reasonably Priced DSLR's?

So my mum said that she is going to get me a proper DSLR camera for Christmas, and I've just to decide which I want, but we are on a pretty tight budget, so I don't think I could push to the Canon 600D, so are there any you can suggest that are really good DSLR's and don't top about £300, as I'm not entirely sure on which ones are good.

Just to say, I've been looking at either the Canon 1100D or the Nikon D3100, I prefer the look of the Nikon tbh, but let me know what you think!

I prefer Canon over a Nikon TBH.
I would see if you can stretch a little further to the 600D or 650D - remember its an investment - something you'll be using for a long time to come!

Its not that my mum won't stretch, its just she physically can't, so it'll have to be no more than £300.

I would go for the D3100 out of the two, is it going to be used mostly for video? The main downside I think will be not having a swivel screen which is good to have if doing video, I find it very handy when I am doing recordings down low on a tripod where I dont want to get physically down there, for example down on the ground on a wet day, the swivel screen allows you to stand up more or less without needing to be down there to check if its in focus correctly and your settings etc. The D5100 is meant to have a swivel screen but it is around £70 more.

Just so you know what a Nikon D3100 can do.. it's the exact camera I use :) I love it! And well if you want to see video quality from a vlogger's angle. Then the recent non-gameplay videos on my channel should give you an idea :) x

Looks like fantastic quality, I'm really considering that one!

I looked at DSLRs and decided a bridge camera was more suited to my needs.

So I bought a Nikon Coolpix L820.

No external mike connection or flip screen, but is compact, 30 fps 1080p, wide angle, excellent battery life, flash etc etc.

For $200 it's excellent. It all comes down to what is essential for your shooting and whether you are going to swap lenses.

I am using Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX300, Not DSLR but almost DSLR like, its fantastic. 50X Optical Zoom.
