Has this ever happen to you... You will work on making a video.. editing and trying trying to make a good thumbnail and have good tags and a description but sometimes the views are not coming in.... BUT if you make a random video.. just somthing real quick will get a TON of views lolz has this ever happen to you?? It happened to me on one of my videos where all i did was spike my hair up lol it was like a quick minute video and I ended up getting a lot of views  I am think the most random videos get more views than the hard working ones we make...

YES! I definitely agree, it's so weird... Whenever you see viral videos on the YT homepage it's always some guy doing something random who has no subscribers, uploading his first ever video that happens to go viral, never someone who tries hard to make good videos!

My most viewed videos are mostly videos I didn't put a lot of effort into. My top 3 most viewed videos are ones that I shot before I even had a YouTube channel...

yeah this is true . my most viewed video with about 30,000 views is a 20 second video with my japanese friends speaking japanese. i have 1300 subscribers...

Yeah its a weird phenomenon. On my old channel I did a few animations. Mainly for my freinds who liked football. Then I did some political ones - nothing to special. But animation takes so long.

One day I did a lazy animation about the 'Ice bucket challenge' finished it in a few days which is super quick for animating and it was huge (in comparison to the other animations I had done).

The simplest throw away ideas can sometimes be the best.

It's a phenomenon, but not something you can exactly "cash in" on.

One of the #1 elements of a viral video is it's natural creation. It's something that compels a ton of people to watch, but isn't created with that goal in mind.

By trying to replicate virality, you immediately lose it.
Which is why quick, viral videos can be good for a small burst of exposure (but too much of it will literally kill your channel via dead subscribers, low audience retention, etc.) but then you spend the hard work making solid content for your regular subscribers.

Views aren't everything. They're not very important anymore.
