Questions regarding changing my display name.

Hello.

I have been wondering whether it is worthy to change your display name from the standard URL to a name that would aesthetically fit the current theme of your channel.

There have been arguments for and against in my head. If I were to change my name on YouTube, I suppose it would be easier to remember and it would fit the channel set (avatar/banner/intro) more.

However, I've found a supposed drawback to this: Your name being different to the URL of your channel. I've been thinking that maybe that could confuse my audience, that I call myself (new name) but if they were to type the URL by my new name they wouldn't reach me?

My old URL (Nightstar1994) would be there to stay of course.

What is your opinion on this?

Hi. To my mind, you should stick to your original username. You've had it for a long time, it has it's authenticity, changing would confuse your viewers. Nightstar1994 sounds pretty "game'ish", to be honest. So you are okay.

Yeah stick with what people know and have already come to love, well that's just my opinion, you could find a name that people end up searching for and makes you wildly popular, but you know xD
 
This is common problem with old accounts because some users did not join with the intentions of creating content. I really wish YouTube would give old accounts the option to change their URLs to something that fits their brands.

Nightstar doesn't sound like a gaming channel to me. It's really random for any niche to be honest with you.

Google+ Display Name can be changed, I think?[DOUBLEPOST=1414321170,1414311363][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, what if I were to name myself something along the lines of:

Leon Soryu (Nightstar1994)

With my old name in the brackets I could have had both and maybe it'd be.. a nice composition of the two?

I don't think Leon Soryu fits your channel and naming yourself after a copyrighted character isn't a good idea. A channel with Leon's name will make people expect you have at least a Cardfight!! Vanguard channel with openings and deck profiles, or a channel like mines featuring multiple card games including Cardfight!! Vanguard.
 
I've thought of another choice. I have a channel with a very unique, short and memorable username, that has enabled the redirecting feature.

How about I use the feature to redirect to Nightstar1994, and change Nightstar's name through Google+ to that one? I suppose that would be a clever idea.
