Question on uploading and warnings

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if I could get some opinions on something? In the past I did a little video uploading and got two warnings from YouTube that I'd used copywrite material. I removed the videos, this was about a year ago, and now want to start a channel for my business. Someone told me that you get three warnings from YouTube before you're banned. Just wondering if this is true, and if this is so, would it be best to start a new account for my business? I'd rather not since my gmail account and everything is the same, but I'm wondering if it might be safer - I'd not like to upload a heap of my own videos, get a following, and then get it all removed due to one accident that may happen.

Your opinion please?

Thank you :)

Hey,

To put it into simple terms, just try not to use copyrighted material. If you keep using it, and the video's get flag your account could possibly get banned. Also if you want to gain a following and make it on youtube you can't using copyrighted materials.

Best of luck to you!

Creating a new account wont do you good especially if you already have monetization on and already have an Adsense account. That adsense account (I'm guessing you are from the US) has your SS # so you can't re-create a new one. You are stuck with those two strikes in that system forever. Instead of worrying about getting banned, you should be more worried about using copyrighted material. Never use copyrighted material. There might be a case where you don't use copyright material and you get flagged, but that is when you dispute it with a claim. Follow copyright laws, don't use copyrighted materials and you will be fine.

What were the warnings? If they were just Content ID notifications, then you are fine and there's nothing to worry about, because Content ID matches almost never result in copyright strikes.

If they were copyright strikes, you should still be okay, as long as you only upload original content and avoid uploading anymore copyrighted material. You may have trouble monetizing your channel if you haven't already. If you weren't planning on monetizing, then it makes no difference. It is true that your account is likely to be terminated if you get 3 copyright strikes. Google 'YouTube Copyright School.' If you complete the quiz, you can have one copyright strike removed every 6 months.

To check if you have any copyright strikes, login on YouTube, go to 'Settings', and click on 'Features.' If everything under account status says 'In Good Standing' then you have nothing to worry about.
