Question about scripting

I just made my first unboxing video.

My question is, is it normal to script the video (unboxing, reviewing) before

I start shooting videos?

And how do I read my script during the video?

Do I need to memorize it?

This is always a tricky subject to master as it's all about balance.

If you (like myself) have a fabulous habit of going off on a tangent or rambling and going completely off track when left to your own devices, write down a basic list of what you need to say and work around that. It takes a few tries, believe me, but you'll be thankful you did it.

Obviously the main issue with scripting is that even if your words flow nice and evenly, you can end up sounding really mechanic. I recommend the bullet point list - know what needs to be said and then work it into your natural way of speech.

Takes some practice, but just keep at it and eventually you'll become more confident and comfortable, and find a style of recording that works for you!

Thank you very much for your advice.

Because I am not a fluent speaker I need a script.

Thank you!

Reading from scripts can be very difficult while you're doing other things. Luckily, if you have video editing software, you can do the two at different times! In fact, it may be easier for you to record the narrative, then do your unboxing on video and cut it all together. Since most unboxing videos don't require anyone to see the person speaking directly (just your hands taking things out of their packages), this could be a way to polish up your videos as you go.

No shame using a script. We're not all natural good, easy speakers. You gotta do what you gotta do to make a quality video, in my opinion.

Don't memorize it, it will look fake, instead try to write down key sentences to let you know what youre talking about next.

Key words and key sentences will do the trick as said above. Just write a few keywords down just like you're having a speech and quickly take a peak at what you're going to say next.
Another thing is to do it off-camera, like record the unboxing, then record your audio while editing!

Just write a script first! Then practice for a while after that even if it's all jumbled you still have the ideas in your head and you can even make better timing with your game.. :)
