Quality v quantity

Posting Mad!
so vikkstar123 has just posted on Twitter, "everyone has has different perception of 'quality' so sometimes quantity is the best option."

What are people's thoughts on this? (I don't mean anything about him or his channel just this thought)

I don't agree with him on that. I think quality is far more important than quantity. That's not to say the people who put out a video every day have low quality videos.. but, if you're rushing your videos to get them out every single day or something then it will show in the video and people will lose interest.

So, for me at least, it's definitely quality over quantity... hence I only upload once a week.

in terms of youtube content it all depends on well the content for example, jacksepticeye uploads twice a day and I enjoy each upload and would say the quality is there to keep my interest. Now for someone like jontron on the otherhand theres no way he could get his content out more frequently without loosing the quality of his videos just because of the way his videos are so although he takes longer to upload what you get is still something quality. It entirely depends on what you are making as to the quality-quantity argument.

But you could argue that if you spent 2 weeks on your videos they would in fact have better "quality" than the ones that take you a week too. I am not saying either is right, but there are times in life where you just have to throw the glitter and see what sticks? I am starting to think that channels with a lot of filler and then some gems are the channels that seem to do the best on Youtube at the moment. There are obvious exceptions (grade A) but look at Leafy. He has found a formula that works and now is just spamming it out there.[DOUBLEPOST=1462195345,1462195107][/DOUBLEPOST]

I actually don't know where I stand on this one to be fair. I think a perfect balance is needed, but for some people posting a lot and often has worked perfectly for them. And one persons quantity is better than anothers quality. I think it is kind of a sign that the whole "make quality content" thing is so subjective that the best we can do is be us and hope we are liked rather than following a formula. This tweet just got me thinking.

yeah exactly you cant say what ''quality'' is because everyone has a different view on it. there's objectively better things like video and audio quality that can be improved but past that its all pretty subjective.

Quality over Quantity, I upload every 3-7 days, which gives plenty of time to edit and record, quality will keep the viewer interested, but don't just worry about that, there are many things that matter.

Overall Quality V Quantity is like this.

Upload more and your quality decreases if you are rushing.

Upload less (1-2 times a week rather than every day) it will show your editing skills :)

You can get away with posting a video of lower quality (like a quick vlog or q&a) every now and then and YouTube seems to reward channels that put out a certain quantity but your channel core still needs to be quality content to give people something to subscribe for.

What if you do not rely on editing to make content though? Back when my channel was doing its best my computer was on its last legs and I didn't edit. In a month I grew around 40 subs and got to nearly 100 views a day. That was lost by circumstances out of my control, but still the daily uploads really worked for me with a lack of editing. One persons quality is the next persons worst nightmare. Since I have started editing videos a bit more I have less views on my normal none edited videos and my growth is now nothing. Yeah my edited videos will still get views but my channel as a whole is a lot worse off.

I found that me just being me was really effective, not only were I getting views but I was getting a lot of interaction with my videos for their size. The momentum was amazing. Even though I now have the ability to edit, I am pretty sure I am going to go back to what worked and to be fair took less time and was a lot more enjoyable for me. Just me playing a game and having a laugh.[DOUBLEPOST=1462198252,1462197722][/DOUBLEPOST]
Absolutely not. Balance is what's important. I'd rather watch a channel that does weekly, hell, even monthly videos of high quality than one which releases poor quality videos daily.
Without being rude, you are not the entirety of Youtube. If I found 5 people who enjoyed my daily, poor edited videos to the 1 person who enjoys high quality monthly videos then I will be aiming for the 5 views a day over the 1 view a month any day of the week.

EDIT: In fact that would actually show that the poor quality videos to you were actually higher quality in a lot of ways. In a 30 day month that would be 150 views to 1. Surely the only true gauge of quality we have on this site is views? Well view time but you know what I mean.
