It depends on what meme you use, if its just some picture like the troll face then no. But if it's like taken strait out of the nyan cat video then yes. It just depends.

I do not do commontaries on vids so far because

1. sometimes they are clips which are too small for a commentary

2. They are kids with reactions

unless someone were to go out of their way to copyright a meme, they are safe and belong to no one.

I think you're safe. There's little means to prove you're the creator of a meme in fairness and I'm not sure too many people would want to be known as the creator. It's not a huge issue for copyright.
