Public Domain footage

I've Got It
I noticed in some people's videos here you guys use stock footage. Are there some good sites that have free to use stock footage available for download? I'm always afraid of using video clips I find on the web because it might violate some kind of copyright.

I never use stock footage, I want to stand out from the rest... :)
That's why I started using it...

I have used before. You can find some things there, but you have to search through a lot of videos I found.
All the stuff in the video in my signature is from there as well, but I would call that archive footage to differentiate between old / public domain footage and footage that is new / shot for stock.

Good point! I renamed my topic. I watched your Why Does the Earth Move Faster in the Fall video... Good stuff! It's actually what made me wonder where people find public domain video.[DOUBLEPOST=1383068645,1383068459][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks I'll check archive.com out... That always the issue right? Deciding on how much time to spend on each video... Once you've written, recorded and edited it a lot of time can be consumed!

Archive.org is a great place to find stock video footage. It is a little hard to navigate, but you will find some really unique stuff there, especially if you are looking for older public domain stuff. I actually shoot and offer stock video footage for free, and use that site to host the videos. I really do not want to risk spamming my site and violating the rules of this forum but obviously you'll see it in my signature. I WILL go ahead and suggest 2 other places I have found that offer footage for free:
Videezy.com and Videvo.net. Both are great resources for independent video makers.

Oh yeah. I went to Archive.org the other day and tried to look around for stock footage, but it was just such a big website, I had no idea where I should go first, etc.

At least now I know where people get their stock footage from.
