I've Got It
i have just had an email from someone saying they like 1 of my videos and they wish to use it as apparently they it has potential or something, he said he will offer me 60% from ad revenue, apparently he works with NBC etc. just all sounds abit farfetched? is this for real or some kind of scam?

It's most likely one of those shoddy networks preying for small channels, just ignore it, I got one of those too.

it was from a company called viralhog, iv checked them out, they dont look to bad, i just dont understand the whole thing with joining a network etc. i wasnt sure if this was 1 of them situations

Joining a network used to be a big to-do thing back in the days with many benefits that you normally wouldn't get without a network. But nowadays it's mostly just free music & sound effects, which you can get from YT's creator studio anyway. Also, some networks gives you the ability to redeem your money before the $100 threshold that Google's AdSense has, but that's pretty much about it, except you're a Managed Partner where you'll get more direct, actually valuable support from those networks.

If you do ever consider about joining a network, look them up on YT and see what people have said about those networks and what their experience with them are. And join a network where you can leave them at anytime.

so being part of a network is pretty pointless? i assumed they would be able to help you grow your channel as in promote somewhere or better revenue or something

For the most part yes, it is pointless. And sometimes they do promote your channel if you're big enough in the first place, but they mostly don't. Plus you can spend that 20-40 percent cut on better promotion anyway, with results that you can monitor yourself.

Sounds like they want to license that particular video. Ask for details (would they post it to their site or just embed your YouTube link, exclusivity, length of term, etc.)

what does embedding the link mean? what should i be asking/looking for?

Embedding the link means that they will post your YouTube video link on their site so you will get the views on your YouTube video. Some sites will do this, others will require you to upload directly to their site so you won't get the YouTube views. When I have licensed videos to Rumble they require me to upload to their site. I still kept the videos on YouTube though so I can still get the YouTube views, they just get the views on their own site so you won't see any YouTube changes.

so they basically take the video and upload it to there sites? so anything to do with my channel will be non existent? also how will i know how well they do? obviously they say i can have 60% revenue but how do i what 60% is lol[DOUBLEPOST=1454435648,1454435215][/DOUBLEPOST]ok so i have emailed the guys back and he has said he will need original video etc. this is all no problem to do, is it worth doing? what would you recomend?
