Promoting content is almost impossible without paying for it.

I have tried Steam, Reddit, Sharee, Discord and Twitter and either I get flamed for not being a god or not having god tier editing, People ignore my content or I get yelled at for trying to promote myself. Is it impossible to gain a following wihtout paying for advertising? I want to upload more, but I really dont wanna waste my time creating videos noone will see. Maybe my content really isnt that goood and I should improve. In that case what content do I make? I tried asking my subs and fans and noone replied to my latest poll. (I can post the link to the poll if you need proof) Im really frustrated and confused as to how the heck people will like or see my videos. If I cant promote myself on any of these platforms because of forum rules and self advertising rules then what am I suppost to do? I am improving the quality of my videos and Im working with what I have. I have even started streaming a little bit, but I dont know. I dont want this to become a chore so I need help on how to make my content better. Any suggestions?

I've been on YT for almost 2 years , I've haven't been consistent though, and I have almost no subscribers/views/watch time. I've tried paid promotion ( it didn't work out for me; I got 100+ views on one of my videos ,but little to no watch time) I do have few tips for you. Don't do YT for views/money you'll burn yourself out; Do it for fun , or for self improvement. If it comes to views/subscribers - it's a lottery right now; YT is so over saturated with content of all kinds and because of that it's really hard to break trough (unless you have a very original/interesting idea that goes viral). Good luck and keep the grind.

What kind of content do you create? I treat YouTube as a side project that hopefully prevails so my advice might not be the best. But you did mentioned reddit on your post so.... I indeed have used Reddit. I posted two videos for promotion for our channel and they both did well. I did those videos specially for Reddit and the specific subreddit interest. Why not just post the video on Reddit you may ask? I use audio from the Youtube library so i always play it safe Ha. Sharee wasn't good at all for me. Yeah, i did get some views but i would call them dead views haha. Just be patient. Our channel somehow got 10k watch time minutes and 67 subscribers. What surprised me the most is the click out rate for are videos. They're simply great. I'm glad people stay to watch almost our entire videos :). Even if its just a few peepsssss.

PS: Don't burn yourself out.

You got to create content you enjoy otherwise you are creating content for the wrong reasons, either for fame or money. If you create content from the heart, you will keep creating no matter what obstacles you run into.

You got to also improve in every video you upload, that shows you are passionate about video making. Watch a lot of self help Youtube channels to get ideas on thumbnail making, using correct tags, SEO research, understanding the algorithm and much more.

Goodluck!

You're right. It takes passion and patience (actually probably in the reverse order).

Yeah i think im just gonna do what I want now. Its literally like a zero sum game or a RNG game if you do it for views or money. I just dont wanna end up like my friends who just give up or someone who endlessly uploads videos and noone sees them[DOUBLEPOST=1527538330,1527538220][/DOUBLEPOST]
