Problems with syncing video & narration

Im really hoping someone can help me. I'm not my second video editing program and for a while I'm able to sync my recorded video and separate narration together then all of a sudden when I want to sync video and narration the beginning is in sync then as I go through the rest of the video the narration is way way out of sync and I don't know why. If anyone can help me I'd appricte it as this is a on going problem that I'm getting with two video editing softwares.nthank you

It might help if you can list what software you are using to record and what your computer specs are :)

AVS video editor
Windows 7 64 bit
Intel core I7 2.8GHz
Memory 10gb
Direct X 11
Dunno if I'm missing anything :)

Right well it definitely isn't your spec! Is this a common problem or has it only just started happening? It could be the software not being able to handle the data of the file (perhaps the file size is large, some software craps out when large files are imported)

When I first got into making videos I got the roxio game capture and that comes with its own editing software and so for a while I recorded with that and then out of no where it starts messing up. In order for me to know how to sync up I say 'up down' and move what ever is there like the options menu up and down and when I came to editing that part was always in sync and then the rest of the video and narration are majourly out of sync. Contacted roxio who didn't have a clue. Bought AVS video editor and that worked great, until now and it is doing the same thing as the roxio software. I always use the same video type like avi or whatever and the same sound such as mp3. Maybe I'm just an idiot and dong it wrong, but two different softwares?

you should use sony vegas to edit that's what i use to sync my video and narration. but before i record i wait for the video to start record at 8 seconds then as soon as it hits 8 seconds i hit the record button in audacity to record my voice..then i go in sony vegas and delete the 8 seconds of that video then BAM! perfectly synced baby!! LOL:):p hope this helps you in some way

I do have Sony Vegas pro 8 but have no clue how to use it lol. Thanks for the idea, I will try that next time. Didn't even occur to me to do it that way lol

lol yea it works best for me so it should do the same for you :) sony vegas is really simple to use just watch some tutorial vids on YouTube on it there's tons there :D

I've tried searching for tutorial vids on how to trim video so I can sync it up with my narration but couldn't find any. I only use editors for very basic editing and I couldn't find anything it's all how to do fancy transitions and other rubbish I don't need to know lol

There's nothing fancy about video transitions. If you have Vegas, use it. Although, very few people who buy software just have Sony Vegas Pro laying around and haven't thought "maybe this would be good for editing video".
