Hey guys and gals. I just bought a new hd monitor for game commentary. Its a Acer Hd. I hooked up my playstation3 with the hdmi and connected the elgato as normal but there is no sound at all. I know I was not going to have sound coming from the screen but I thought I can go along with the sound from the capture device. Im not getting sound from that either. If anyone has a similar setup please help me out. I have a headset mic that I use also. Im supposed to record in like a hour.

Check your PS3, by default the sound usually stays with the last output, so if you used component or the AV cable thats where the sound is going. Go into the sound settings on the PS3 and make sure the output is the HDMI, and on the monitor try increasing the volume or try plugging in the PS3 directly without the Elgato to make sure the speakers actually work and if they do then you know the problem is with the capture card.

I don't have any speakers and Im still using the same setup for the monitor that I had on my tv I havnt changed the cables. Do I need to have speakers connected to my monitor to get sound recorded on the legato?

If the Elgato has a pass through then you shouldnt need to do anything, but does the new monitor have internal speakers? And like i said try connecting the PS3 directly to the monitor.

Im a dunce! I reset everything before I left just to try it out again and it has sound now. Even the monitor I was thinking it was strange to see volume controls in the monitor settings but see no speakers lol. Thankyou very much for trying to help me out. :D
