Pretty please review my new channel and first video

Just created a new channel and uploaded my first video. Would love feedback on the overall look of my channel and new video quality that I am able to produce. I'm using a canon T2i to shoot the video and an MXL 990 condenser mic to record the audio into the Zoom H4N. Any feedback/advice to make my channel and video/audio better would be greatly appreciated.

THANKS SO MUCH! :)

Beautiful rendition of that song :crying4: Nice control of your voice as it's clear you could really belt it out if the song called for it. Wasn't even sure if you were really playing the guitar at first since it's just out of frame haha But upon inspection, your skills on that are impressive as well. Nice backdrop as well.

I see that you only have two videos out but I hope you continue to produce more! Get yourself on social media and start getting yourself out there if you're ready. Set up your social media link on your YouTube banner :thumbsup2:

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I really appreciate your feedback. I really love singing and playing guitar and I worked really hard on trying to make a good backdrop for the song... So, I'm super stoked that you like it.

I'm trying to find the time to do more videos, but just really have to make time to do so. I will hopefully have another video posted within a week. That's the plan anyways.

Oh, and I do have a facebook and instagram page, but don't know how to put the link on my banner. I'll research that and get it up there. My links are in the description box on my videos if you'd like to check them out! Thanks again!

On your homepage, hover your mouse over your banner. Then click the pencil icon that appears in the top right corner > Edit Links. Then scroll down to Custom Links section :thumbsup2:

Regarding custom social media links, before you can see the edit links option on your banner, you must click on the Settings Wheel next to your Subscribe button on your channel and Enable "Customize the layout of your channel." Now the edit links options should be visible.

That's talent! Great image, great sound, great face!
With that said, and read this as a very personal preference, there's nothing exciting for me to see in your videos. I've grown too used to have videos capturing my attention every few seconds.

Thanks so much for your feedback! I appreciate it. Can you please give me any ideas that you may have that would keep someone like you more interested? It's kinda hard to make an "exciting" video when all I do is sing and play acoustic guitar... So any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Again, take what I say with a few pounds of salt, as my perspective is just what it is. A perspective....
In a video, that talent you got there, playing and singing a whole song, in a single take, isn't of much importance. Once you make it big, then yes, it becomes very important when playing live. But in a video you're telling me a story. A visual one in your case. As the main carrier for your message (which in your music is an emotional one) is how pleasant you sound and look, with the lyrics taking a much less important role. It doesn't matter how many takes you record. In fact, they are welcome. Changes in scenery, view angles, grading, etc will only keep me interested in what comes next. Something as simple as you walking around the park, or sitting in a bench singing, or the beach, whatever... A static background isn't going to grab much attention.
Some singers could really just be sitting in a toilet, and we would still be watching them. But those have their lyrics as the main carrier for their message. Tim Minchin comes to mind...
Unless you have 2 good mics, I'd record the guitar and voice separately, and make them sound as good as you possibly can. Then, film myself singing in a whole variety of places. And finally, make an edit of my favorite clips and put them together. Filming techniques, and editing can make your message go from 1 to 1000 in a big hurry.
I like your "broken" video.

Wow! I really appreciate your feedback. I will definitely try to add more locations/backgrounds for my videos... I plan on doing so soon! Just taking a little longer than I expected. As for the recording... I only have 1 mic, so I'll have to just work on getting better at recording the audio. I'm all self taught, so it's taking me a lot longer to do what I really envision doing. But I'm sure I'll get there. Again, thank you for taking your time to share your thoughts with me.

Having only one mic isn't really a drawback. Just lay down the voice and the guitar separately. Hell, you can even add backing vocals and whatnot. Audio editing really isn't rocket science.
