Post color grading/editing

I've Got It
Hey everyone, i always wondered how most of the youtube i watch look so vibrant in their videos, and i thought it was just my skin tone that sucked or that i just couldnt post color change for my life. But to show what i mean, this is the main video from a youtuber that i watch, and the second video is their "blooper" video. Notice how the blooper video was left untouched in terms of color, saturation etc, and look how much better they look in the main video. Can someone explain to me how to do that? I have FCPX and magic bullet, but i cant use magic bullet for my life, lmao. ( unless the changes they made is soley from the youtube enhancements options, but if that was the case, they wouldve done it to that video as well.

Blooper ( untouched):

It's to do with the color balance settings. I'm not a good video editor but I do photoshop and you can change around with the levels and colour balance. I assume it might be the same with after effects.

What most YouTubers do that shoot with a DSRL (including us) is shoot with a flat image setting. This means you change the settings in the camera so it doesn't add default saturation and all that to your image. Thats why that behind the scenes look sort of flat and lacking contrast. The benefit of shooting with a flat image setting is all the detail is preserved in your image so then in Post-Production there is a lot more you can do to the image, more "wiggle room" ;)

Jut ask if you have any other questions! :)

I think your videos look pretty good, man. Granted there will always be ways that you can possibly improve the quality of your videos, yours look better than a lot of others out there.

From your example, it looks like they made changes to contrast/saturation more so than the color. But, I agree with Tyler, your videos look fine.

I have a habit of seeing other people's work as better than mine, even if it isn't :/

Thank you so much everyone

A quick color trick in FCPX, as your first color adjustment, go to exposure, and turn global up by, say 15%. Then set shadows to -15%.

Though damn I wish there were better resources out there for learning color grading!
