PLEASE HELP!, Fraps decides to slow down, PLEASE HELP!

Hi, ive been recording with fraps for about two years and have NEVER had a problem with it. clean recording of just about anything, If the number didn't turn red I wouldn't be able to tell the difference when its turned on, that smooth. but all of a sudden it decided to crap out on me.Recently, Any game, even minecraft on Lowest settings with fraps set to 25 fps and half size has insane lag spikes every 2 seconds or so, and as soon as I stop recording, it goes back to normal.

ive tried all your stereotypical tech team responses. ive cleaned up over two hundred gigs on my drive, I have system cleanuped, and defraged. I searched the drive for errors. none found. I deleted ALL previous recordings. nope, still nothing. I wiped fraps existence from the face of my computer and reinstalled it. Nada. I tried an earlier version of fraps. Nothing.

and its not like I'm trying to record skyrim on a netbook, I'm trying to record minecraft on A MANS COMPUTER.
I built it myself, specs below,

Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz
RAM: 16.0 GB
System Type: 64-bit OS, x64-based processor
GFX card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

C:/(used mainly for necessities, like system files, internet browsers and other nongaming misc): 38.6 free/231GB
D:/(drive i use for games, fraps, and where the videos are recorded to)563 free/931GB

SO whats going on? PLEASE HELP ME!
 
My best bet would be that either your drivers are out of date, or that your actual PC is becoming out of date. Make sure all your hardware drivers are updated. I've never come across a problem like this before if the performance still drops at low settings. You might even want to try a different capture program like Mirillis or OBS and see how they work compared to Fraps.
 
If it's going to keep being trouble just use OBS. It's even more user friendly and free. I seriously can't say enough about how awesome OBS has been.

I keep all my drivers up to date. and nothing had really changed the day it stopped working. it just did.
plus im running windows 8.1 and with the above specs. im pretty up to date.

Then try running other capture programs, I've given up with Fraps lately since some games just won't work with it. (I use a secondary PC with a capture card interface now, so there isn't any performance drop)

I've been using bandicam to get by recently. The demo of course. I love the layout, and it functions a lot like fraps, but I hate the water mark, but I'm not prepared to pay for a license to a program that might crap out like fraps did.
 
Install Minecraft on your C: drive and try again. Running the game on the same hard drive you're recording to is kinda like reading a book and writing one at the same time. If you've only got 38GB free on that drive, then you've got a lot of "non-gaming misc" which would probably be better housed on the second drive.

Personally, I use a solid state drive which contains windows and my core programs (Office, Adobe CS6, etc.). Then I've got a hard drive for storage and game installs. And last, I've got 2 1TB drives set up in Raid 0 as my recording dump drive. Works like a dream.

This is because it actually uses your GPU for capture - the work is no longer being done by the CPU. This is generally good apart from when you have a game that wants to eat all of your VRAM like Crysis 3 or GTA V.
