Planning, Scripting & Structure

I've only started making videos recently and I still have a long way to go where confidence is concerned. I have a lot of ideas I would like to do, but I find the videos I plan never turn out quite how I want them to. They kind of turn into rambling messes and I'm pretty sure I lose a lot of viewers interest before even half way through.

I want them to be more polished and better planned, but I find the ones I've scripted/planned properly seem very forced or unnatural so I'm put off doing them. However the more vlog type ones, I'm just really awkward and ramble, saying things like "like" or "so yeah" or "um yeah so like" a lot and get stuck for words. Though I end up doing them more because they require less effort and are less disappointing if the end product is going to be poor.

I assume part of this is just confidence and something that will get better with time. I was just wondering does anyone have any advice or techniques for planning/scripting videos etc. I'd really like my videos to be more structured than me just rambling at the camera, not making much sense.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I guess it just takes time to get better most big youtubers did the same thing when they started out and also keep the camera a little farther from your face.

Instead of scripting, just keep notes with a few bullet points to remember. Also, don't be afraid do edit out all ums and uhs

That's encouraging to hear. Lol. Thanks. And yeah, the reason I'm so close to the camera is because there's not enough room in my bedroom and also in the kitchen where I make my videos to back my wheelchair up enough. xD I'm hoping to get a Wendy house in the garden to make my videos in, which should give me more set up options which will help a lot.

Thank you. I'm trying to edit most of them out in my newest video I'm editing at the moment. Amazing how much shorter the video is after cutting them out. Lol.

Also most vlogs are recorded in parts. So I recommend doing that.
The funny thing is I always plan to do them in parts and take my time, but when I start its like nonsensical word vomit just spills out everywhere. Lol. Like you said though, I guess it's just something you overcome in time.
