Paying for views

Are you promoting your channel trailer or individual videos? Why Virool Vs Adwords?
Virool only lets you promote individual videos (they embed your video into an ad that they show across a variety of platforms). I ran a Virool campaign back in April and since then I've seen a significant lift in views, and I got some great interaction from the campaign itself (not just views). I didn't get the same level of engagement from the AdWords campaigns I've tried.

Update on my campaign, I got over 500 views, 10 new subs, several likes and dislikes. I think some of the views even spilled out to my channel page and got views for other videos as well. For me, that was $100 well spent. :)

Really good to hear! I agree. If you can spend a bit it's a good way to get yourself out there. There are too many channels out there it's hard to get noticed :)

Definitely, and I like the residual lift in views I end up getting even after I've completed a virool campaign. Now the views definitely don't remain as high as they are during that campaign, but when they go down, they are still slightly higher per day than they were previous to it. I think that's the long-term benefit of running something like that.

It's a process. Just like any other promotion you do for yourself. You usually have to do it for a while but eventually it may not be as needed.

Agreed. It definitely got me a good lift in subscribers, only time will tell if they stick around though. I think virool is a good tool to help you get that exposure to get stared out. It's expensive though, but I found it got me much better all round results than Adwords.

If I may make a suggestion. You should try Adwords again. It takes some time to nail down the focus of the campaign, but getting it down to $0.01 per view is very much attainable (and what I currently get). With a good channel trailer and $0.01 per view, $100 is 10,000 views. And given my history, $5 daily spend returns 10-15 subscribers, so $100 is 200-300 new subscribers.

The other reason I avoid Virool and use Adwords is Adwords can focus entirely on YouTube viewers. Much higher liklihood they have a YouTube account. Anyone who doesn't have an account, isn't someone you want to spend money on advertising to.

Yeah, I have more faith in Adwords, long term. I see virool as more of a quick fix so to speak. Do you have any tips on how to improve the accuracy of Adwords campaigns?

When you set up ads you can do multiple targeting groups. You can narrow it down based on keywords, interests, content types viewers are watching and all kinds of demographic detail. The more specific you are, the better rates you will get generally as you're not competing against everyone else who is advertising. It involves a fair amount of trial and error. Make a new campaign, try narrowing down a specific group, try another group, let the ads run on a low bid for a while, lower the bid later to see if the views keep coming. If that doesn't work, scrap it and try another.
