Parody Video Question

Loving YTtalk
I have been wanting to know if there was a way around a certain issue we ran into about a week ago when attempting to post a video on our channel. We thought it would be something fun and different from gaming videos that we would do a parody on a movie. What we did is we picked a movie out on Netflix we thought would be good. We muted the actual movie sound and we did some commentating over it adding funny things. We felt like this was really good content. We uploaded and then got a copyright warning. It said that CBS had the right to the video. We didn't dispute it and took it down because we were worried about our channel getting banned. I was curious if there was a way to dispute it or a way around it because we have no sound except us commentating on the video. Is there a way to post those type of videos on YouTube or are we doomed never to upload any of those types of videos?

So the moral of the story and that video is that we shouldn't try our luck with it. Makes sense just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a way around it. Guess we will have to keep those for our own entertainment. Thanks for the video reference.

Yep, that was Youtube's infamous Copyright School video. :P
Glad I could help.

Fight the power!

You can leave the video up, but CBS has the right to monetize your videos and basically take money off of your views, which isn't really all that bad if you're not in it for the money.

Yeah, sucks we can't but we will just stick to Indie Game commentary. Thanks again![DOUBLEPOST=1393463534,1393463399][/DOUBLEPOST]And @JTMulcahy we might just do that because we aren't even close to the right amount of viewership to make any money whatsoever. So, we might do it. We will see might just see one of those videos in the future.

Some people try and argue that it's fair use because of the commentary, but it comes down to YouTube and the copyright holder.

I can't recall I think it might have been copyright konisbored. The movie was Titanoboa I know for sure. And I understand YouTube and it's rights I was just curious about it MegaBoringGuy.
