Other channels for tags

Hey everyone

What's the rules or guidelines for using other channels in your tags ...I read somewhere it's forbidden. Could this be a reason for lower growth....thanks in advance everyone

Hi Milt! Well there are different opinions on using other channel as tags. On one side it's said that it's a violation of Youtube TOS because it's misleading data but on the other one tagging other channels that are in the same genre of yours isn't technically misleading. But in the end I think that it can't change so much, I mean maybe some years ago it could been something for increasing your visibility but nowadays there are so many more videos that even if you will pump up in searches for other channels there will be their videos first and then yours so it's not such a big deal.
You can try but maybe it's better trying to focus on using more related tags.

if you're discussing another channel or you're doing a collab with another channel, then it's fine. If not, then I personally think that's fairly shady. I'd focus on using other related tags that might be shared that are relevant to your video.

I think it is a No No unless the channel or person of the channel is the subject of your video. You can't just make a video and tag "Roman Atwood" for instance. There are actually people out there that will go out and seek mislabeled videos out and get your channel banned.

i wouldnt do it unless it was related to my video and even then its useless because the point is to build your brand and most likely if its a larger channel that tag will be drowned out by all of their own content.
