Optimum image size and res?

Is there an optimum image size/res for still images inserted into vids for youtube? I'd like as much quality as I can get without painfully long download time. I guess that goes without saying.
Shooting vid and stills with Canon T2i DSLR.

Not really.. Its more of personal preference. Smaller the pixel amount smaller the picture, larger the pixel amount larger the picture. I would suggest getting the largest amount of pixels in a picture and then scaling it down to fit the video screen that way its really high quality picture. remember small pixel amount pictures scaled up pixelate and it looks bad. Youtube videos get uploaded in a 16:9 or 4:3 pixel aspect ration so just fit it in there and you will be fine!
