Opportunity to Join Union for Gamers Network

ForeverAlonePrick

I don't know what's going on.

Apparently, many networks such as TGN, SocialBlade and I think Fullscreen are starting to lock partners into their programs for prolonged periods of time, not allowing them to pursue different options. Athene, who works with Razor/ Union for Gamers, has lowered their requirements temporarily to 1,000 subscribers, and has no lock in for your channel. If you meet this qualification, I'd say it's worth checking out.

I honestly have no problems with being 'locked in' with Fullscreen. They are a Godsend. As far as networks I would say they are definitely the best.
I don't feel like watching that entire video, but has this been confirmed anywhere, all I see is 'apparently'. I'm pretty certain it didn't say anything of that sort in any of the networks contracts and I don't think they can just change their policies in that way. Can they?

Apparently, TGN is changing their policies saying that you have to keep a contract with them for one full year before leaving, effective January. Since you have to alert them one month before leaving now, that means you would have until December to quit TGN, before they lock your channel in. So yes, it seems that they can do this, sadly. And yes, it sounds like a good network. It's just the fact that they don't allow you to search for other options that would bother me. I don't know this for sure about Fullscreen; it may have just been a rumor. I just don't understand why we have to have such combative networks though. It's unfortunate.

It's all just business. It's beneficial to the network to have a lock-in to ensure that you don't jump to a sweeter offer the moment your channel starts growing. Lets say you sign with TGN at 1,000 views/day with something like $2.00 CPM. They are hoping that in a few months you'll be passing 2,000 views/day, still at that $2. With no way to renegotiate until the year is up, they can hold on to you at a lower CPM than your channel may grow to be worth in that time period. It's clearly not the greatest deal for partners, but it just leaves a space for new or small networks that are willing to be more flexible.
