Opinion of Text in Thumbnails?

I don't know if text in thumbnails are necessary. But what do you think?
What looks better thumbnails with text? or thumbnails without text?
Does text make a thumbnail more "professional?
If thumbnails have text what do you think the text should be of?
For example, the title of the video, a keyword, a catch phrase, episode #, etc. or something else.
I just want to know your opinion on this. Let me know.

Well, I personally use text in my thumbnails so...I like it? It's more of a preference imo.

I do it but mainly just like this really simplistic and doesn't say more then it needs to.

I sometimes do and sometimes dont which is part of why I struggle for consistent thumbnails, some thumbnails look great and tease the viewer well without text, sometimes the text can help make the video clear about what its about but at times it can spoil the thumbnail.

The text stands out to me, I guess it's the font that makes the thumbnail look more attractive.

The text is usually what most people are going to look at in a thumbnail. So take advantage of that and add some interesting keywords in your thumbnail!
