Opinion of my Channel Idea.

I Love YTtalk
So I plan on starting a new YouTube channel with weekly videos very soon. Here is the idea I have. Every Thursday I will upload a video. It is guaranteed to be a video, but it could be anything and when I say anything I mean anything. One week there will be a short film, next week a vlog, next week cooking video, etc. What do you think of this idea? Would you watch a channel like this? Any suggestions?

Honestly It sounds like an amazing idea. You could attract varying audiences, I once had a similar idea where id basically do all video genres in one channel, but imo it might get very VERY hectic! go for it though!!

I would advise against your plan. You would be spreading your content too thin. If someone likes a vlog and wants to see another one, they would have to wait for weeks to see another one-that is off putting to a potential subscriber. When you're first starting out, it's better to have a rather narrow focus to grow your channel and attract fans before you expand into other areas.

I have to agree with @Wreckless Eating. If some one subbed for a certain type of video, their not going to like having to wait or maybe even some of your other content. Though I kinda disagree with narrowing your focus, while you defiantly one want a focus, as you get bigger you'll have less lee-way to do different stuff, so you should also experiment while keeping a focus, but too much, because you can loose fans, this is ok if you do enjoy that new type, screw them and get new ones.

Now a way this could work, if like you do multiple days.
Monday - Cooking
Wednesday Day - Vlog
Friday - Short Film
That could be too much, maybe short films bi-weekly or once a month. Just a idea.

I agree with Wreckless Eating. I'd say that the idea would work a lot better if you did more than 1 video a week, but maybe 2 or 3 if you have the time. That way people who like a certain type of video will come back to your channel to see it more often...if that makes sense.

It seems like a lot of people here just like to focus on the most efficient way to get the most subs.

Personally, if it's something you want to do and if you have fun doing it, I think it's a great idea.
You're not going to be reaching as large of an audience as you would if you had a more narrow focus, but there are still going to be plenty of people who are interested in a channel like that. There are lots of channels out there that do a variety of content like that, and their fans keep coming back for the person more than the videos themselves.

Hey, if anyone is still here. I thought of a better idea;

I upload weekly content. Every other week it varies. First week is talking to a camera where I do anything that involves talking to a camera (vlog, tag, QandA, challenge, advice, rant, opinion, life update, etc.) you this is the kind of thing a lot of YouTubers do. Second week I do anything that doesn't involve talking to a camera or maybe it sort of does but not where I just I'm just in the same place the whole time (short film, skit, original poetry, cooking video, adventure vlog, how to video, etc.) Hope this makes sense. Tell me what you think if you are still watching this thread. If no-one replies, maybe I'll start a new one.
