Not posting on default channel & creating new brand account gets the brand account terminated?

Hello everyone,

A friend of mine told me that creating a YouTube channel, and creating a new brand account on top of the default channel, apparently leads to termination of the brand account, if there isn't any content uploaded on the default channel.

A few months ago she created a YouTube channel, more or less out of curiosity, and on the same day she subsequently created two brand accounts, which both got terminated after no other activities whatsoever, apart from naming the two brand accounts, having a look around and logging out. The next day she signed in and saw a pile of broken TV screens with a notice saying that both brand accounts were terminated.

I'm asking this question because I want to start a YouTube channel, creating and using a brand account, but I'm a little worried about her experience. Has anyone ever heard something about a new brand account getting terminated if no content on the default channel?

I haven't heard of that before! Maybe the channel names and/or channel art (if there was channel art) were inappropriate or something? Or, perhaps YouTube detects if people are starting to create a lot of accounts and deletes them to prevent spam. I know YouTube does remove spam accounts periodically, but I don't know how they determine spam accounts, or what really happens when they are removed.

Thank you Katy, that's very informative. Well I think that if You and the community haven't heard about this being a thing, than I'm sure if I do everything like I'm supposed to, an original name, my own original brand design, and everything by the book, there shouldn't be any problem.

Do you think that just a short time span could be an issue?

I mean time between activating the channel, creating a brand account and starting to personalize it - all in the span of one hour, that that could be an alarm... somehow..?

This doesn't make sense to me. If she hasn't done anything with the account, how can she have deleted videos? Do you mean she created two accounts and uploaded a lot of videos on both channels on that same day? Because I can see why Youtube would find that kind of activity suspicious.

She never posted any content on any YT channel ever. She just activated her default channel, and than created 2 more YT brand accounts under the same google account, so she had 3 channels all together in the channel switcher: 1. = default channel, 2. = brand account #1, 3. = brand account #2. (all 3 channels under the same google account). The next day, after she created the said accounts, she went to the channel switcher, where she saw that the brand accounts were terminated.
