No more verified check in comments?

I believe youtube has made a change that removed the verified check-mark from appearing next to a user's name in the comments section. Has anyone else noticed this? I think this is an interesting move, since isn't that the entire point of it? So people can quickly see if a comment is made by the genuine person? It still shows up on the user's channel, but if someone went to look at the channel it would be obvious whether it was the real one or not anyway.

I personally don't care if my check mark shows up, it's not like it matters. I just don't see why they would remove it.

I've noticed some people somehow "faked" the checkmark. I'm not sure how they did it, but I'm guessing it was like an emoticon of some sorts that replicated the mark. I don't know if that's the cause of them doing away with it, but if it is, it seems kinda goofy. :/

Yeah it seems checkmark is gone when commenting (still present on the channel name) and has been replaced with a highlighted name. Like JTMulcahy said someone probably found a way to exploit the system in comments so it had to be tweaked.
