Hey everyone, and thanks for reading this! I'm really looking for some good feedback/suggestions here...

I just recently started posting videos of games I enjoy and I haven't purchased any video editing software yet, only relying on free software that frankly, has no strength behind it, only compiling clips together at best. Is there truly any decent editing software out there that is powerful enough to let you add in custom captions, images and such without requiring a masters degree to learn?

well most of the video editing software take some time to learn but can be really helpful. Most of the video editing software cost an arm and a leg though so before wasting your money I would try trial versions of as many as you can. See which ones you like and which ones feel comfortable. You should watch some youtube tutorials if you need help (they really helped me!)

If you want to pay get Sony Movie Studio, Adobe Premiere, or whatever someone else replies with.
Sony movie studio is probably one of the easiest to learn for beginners in my book.

I would suggest going with the popular choices if you are planning to purchase software, like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere (my personal favourite). This is because many people use them, so you can easily find tutorials, help and support with these products. But do some research before deciding, other software might appeal to you more depending on your interface preferences and type of content you produce.

I also use power director, the vid in the sig was done in power director. My only problem is I don't have much to benchmark it against. It will definitely serve basic editing and a little more if you get creative.

Right now, I think the best editor long term is Sony Vegas Pro 12, but it's very expensive and it is pretty advanced, but it's worth getting if and when you can. What are you using to capture your games and are you capturing in 720p+ ?
