New Ad Overlay on YouTube

Michael

I Love YTtalk
Anyone else seen this before a video starts? I can only imagine these leading to more invalid clicks and Adsense bans when a user starts clicking frantically to try and stop the ad after choosing to watch a 3 minute advert.

Just a tip for anyone wanting to avoid watching a 2-3 minute ad, click the X in the top right corner to view only a portion of the ad with the usual Skip Ad link rather than waiting 15 seconds.

What are your thoughts on this?

Personally I aint overly keen, I can see it helping people bring in more money since a few people will opt to watch a 2-3 minute advert mostly by mistake I think at times lol

I am sort of keen on the commercial break idea but really, a ten minute video is getting commercial breaks? I hate it on TV every 15 mins :D

I've had this for about 15 days now :)

Commercial break can just mean an ad at the beginning or end, and most people just stick it at the beginning as was the YT norm :)

The only reason I'd use this is if I did a video that's and hour or two long, seeing they take up a crapload of bandwidth to upload.

I've seen those ads a couple of times. It's been a few months though. Maybe they were beta testing it or something.

Yep, that's just bad and annoying the user / restraining him for accessing the content faster / ends up with some people clicking away from your content. 100% bad feature, should be removed ASAP.
