What's up guys,

It's Matt again, I'm starting to relize that I spend a lot of my time in the copyright section. But anyway more to the point, what's the copyright law based around video. I know you can use like a 30 second clip of copyrighted material for education purposes (or somthing like that.) But what can you use for entertainment purposes?

Thank you,
Matthew "Ztnel" Lentz

I shouldn't be rude, but I'm going to be. You just asked a question that requires hours of research in response. Google copyright law and start reading.

As to the 30 seconds bit, that's not true. Either you can use the content for a purpose, or you cannot. There is no stock time amount that is permitted.

  • Motion media, e.g., movies, film clips, excerpts from television shows, etc.:
    • Up to 10 percent of the total or three minutes, whichever is less.
Found the answer through a little research. 10% or 3min whichever is less. I knew there was some odd restraint on it.
