Need help with screen recording!

I need a good software for recording screen (not games). Fraps and Dxtory only work on games (right?) and I want a good software to record my screen. To record stuff like Happy Wheels. Anyone with some good tips?

You can actually use Fraps to record your desktop - there's a function called Monitor Aero Desktop. It only works on Vista / 7 though. Otherwise, you could go for CamStudio. It works rather well.

I currently use CamStudio and am less than thrilled. The videos are choppy and not as smooth as I'd like. Unless I'm doing something wrong?

I'm actually surprised that Fraps doesn't record your browser. I just tried to do it, but it only recorded Skype

why not bandicam, the only anoying thing though they advertise their watermark on your video but it is good

You can use Livestream, while normally used for Live recordings you can have it set to save recordings to your computer instead. I've used it before and quality tends to be pretty good .

Need further help! I used Fraps for recording my screen and it went well but can you record a specific area in the screen? Cuz now when I edit I have to zoom in like crazy and I'm afraid it will be blurry cuz of that! If there is a smarter way please tell me!
