Need advice about buying a microphone

So far I've been recording my commentaries with my Turtle Beach headset, but my voice is starting to crack in the recording and the headphones on the headset make a cracking noise when I'm listening through them.
I'm already uncomfortable recording my audio with a headset and I think I would feel better if I had an actual microphone to record with.
But I have little to no knowledge about microphones, I know that Blue Yeti Microphones are great but I'm not willing to spend that amount of money on them.
So what microphones would you recommend that would give me clear audio, without it being ridiculously expensive? Or is there no such thing? >.<
I would really appreciate your help, thanks :)

I would advice a blue yeti, I have a pro sound usb mic which is also really good but you need to buy a stand for it so can become pricy.

I think there is such thing. I am not too good with microphone knowledge but make sure you look for one that isn't too sensitive. I stupidly invested in a Blue Yeti microphone without anybody giving me some advice, and I ended up with an extremely sensitive one that can sometimes pick up noise from downstairs, so I had to fiddle a lot with the gain (sensitivity).

Your mic sounds good on your walking dead video, I think you need a pop filter.

The Blue Yeti is one of the most priceworthy mics out there and there arent many mics with it's capability that are cheaper. I'm not very good mics within that price range sadly since I've always used those that at more expensive than the Blue Yeti.

I'd say save up some money and buy it instead of buying something cheap now.

I would advice the Microsoft LX 3000 headset. It might not be that you are looking for an entire headset but the mic is amazing for it's pricetag. I've used mine for about 2 years now and it still works like I bought it yesterday. Just search for it on amazon and I can promise you won't find any bad reviews about it. (TheSyndicateProject used it when he started out his channel)

I don't see how a Blue Yeti is that much more expensive than Turtle Beaches. A decent pair of Turtle Beaches end up being around 100$-110$ a Blue Yeti you can get for about 130$-140$. So there really isn't a huge difference in pricing. I usually just record audio with the mic built into my laptop (since it's surprisingly good) when I can and other times I'll use my Sony Wireless Stereo Headset.

Also important is your mic technique and room acoustics. Nothing drastic is required but a few simple adjustments can make all the difference. You can be 30cm from your mic and still get a good clean signal; pops & sibilance will be reduced. Make sure the recording area is as quiet as possible, close all doors, even the ones not directly connected to the room but let noise come to the door. Anything you can do to cut down on room ambience is also worth exploring as that makes the audio sound amateurish.

I use a snowball mic for my commentaries and that works a treat! Amazon currently have them pretty cheap at the moment so I would recommend one of them but don't forget a pop filter they help also for sound quality... but if you have the money get a blue yeti.
