Need a Good Comp/Mic. Suggestions?

My MacBook died on me tonight and now I'm in dire need of a new computer. My questions is, should I buy an iMac or should I shop around (maybe Dell?) for another kind of machine? I want to get a desktop for sure, I'd just like to get a few opinions before rushing into something this expensive.

Also, any recommendations for an external microphone? A good one that stands by itself without a stand of any kind? Something affordable preferably due to the fact that if I get an iMac, it will take a lot of funds out of me.

I wouldn't know exactly what pc to recommend... But I have an iMac and I can't say enough just how good they are

As for free standing external microphones... Try the blue snowba microphone... Relatively cheap (around £50) and its what a lot of YouTubers like to use

Thank you for your suggestion! I ended up buying the iMac and I like the way the Snowball mic looks and how people reviewed it. It's relatively cheap too, which is good for me.
