Hi guys, I was watching the news this morning and saw my video! I was pretty excited and all my friends felt pretty happy about it.
I'm happy because it should draw a pretty good local crowd to my channel, but i was also wondering if this will increase the monetization. I'm guessing it will not, but thought i would ask

Hey there

Well congrats on that! That's awesome! :D
What do you mean with "increase the monetization"? Like earning more money or what exactly?

Wow that is great!! Did the news station contact you for using this video?
Monetization will not increase because of it, you should be getting in some more views though :)

Well, I guess YouTube won't pay you more because your video was on the news, but I guess it will be getting more viewers which usually means more money!

Yup that's about what will happen. More views = more money.
But just cause your video got into news doesn't mean it'll get you more cash per view ;)

That must have been a pretty sweet surprise! I doubt you'll earn more money but you're probably right about the local audience.

Yea, one of the people in the video posted it on the news page and they aired it. It has been bringing in a ton of views. Pretty cool

Youtube won't be the ones to pay you unless it increases the views, did the news station ask you to use the footage? Because normally they may pay for it.

Like others have said, it will likely bring you more traffic, but your monetization won't change. I've had a few videos on TV and had a few confirmed views saying they saw the video on TV. I normally tell them to post my channel name in the upper left corner of the video so people know where it came from. Here's one confirmed view from TV:
