My yearly "should i quit" post

Hello everyone, frank here.

So for the past 2 years strait I have been grinding videos on my channel, ways trying to post at least 2 per week or more. My channel is mainly gaming but I it has some other content in there like the elmo series.

I have been considering abandoning my channel because of it slow growth. Most people say that as long as u keep at it, it will grow. It has been 2 years now, and only gained 450 subscribers. I think this is life telling me you suck at this try something else... especially when I see channels gaining 1k subs in 2 month. My social blade says that I will reach 1k. in 3 more years. Halp..
 
Are you enjoying posting videos still?
If you still enjoy it carry on, dont worry about subs.
If you dont enjoy it then stop!

Seems a bit simple but surely in the grand scheme of things thats all it comes down to.

Honestly, I think you've been given bad advice there, but hey that's just my opinion.

You actually have to make people find your videos. Simply making videos and crossing your fingers and hoping for the YouTube Gods to rain down favour on your channel and bring you views isn't going to work unless you're one of the 0.0001% who get discovered by pure chance and shouted out by bigger YouTubers etc.

If you're one of the other 99.99999% then you are responsible for the growth of your channel. The measures you take to improve SEO (search engine optimisation) and discoverability for your videos will result in your growth. If you take none, you won't grow or will grow very slowly. If you take some but don't really spend time optimising it, you'll grow, but at a slower pace. If you dedicate your time learning how to rank videos in search, get them in suggested videos, or recommended on the home-page - then your channel will grow, and it'll grow at a good pace.

I'm not a huge channel, but I've still experienced relatively fast growth, reaching my current size in just under 17 months - and I grew quickly not because of luck or shout-outs or any of that - but because I took active measures to ensure people discovered my videos and my channel grew. I'm still learning how to do that better even today, and as a result my growth continues to speed up each month.
 
This question is frequently asked on this forum. It is a very defeating question for not only the OP but also the readers, and therefore the staff lock these kinds of threads. If you no longer enjoy making videos, then yes, you should quit. If you still like making videos, then you shouldn't quit.
