My thumbnails...

Going Evil

So my thumbnails are made before I make the video 50% of the time and they are horrible. Like all of my thumbnails are putrefying. So can you guys teach me your ways of great thumbnail making? Example

Thumbnails should be somewhat informative imo. Look at my thumbnails for an example. They are descriptive and they show stuff that is in the video or about the topic that is talked about.

They need to stand out, not just be words. Try making it more eyecatching y'know. Play around with overlays and what not :)
Good luck dude!

Start by learning how to use Photoshop CS6, this program is extremely good for things like thumbnails, profile art, etc. If you can't afford it, there are other "ways" you could obtain it, but the safest way is to just normally purchase it. Once you're familiar with all of it's tools and how to use it ( might take a long time, i've been using it for around 3 years and now i fully know my way around it ), just keep making thumbnails and they'll get better with time. If you look at the thumbnail for my first video then compare it through all of them to my current one, you'll see how much they improved in just a 12-ish video span. This isn't because I looked up tutorials or anything, but each time I made a thumbnail I could just think of ways to make it better than the last. Keep at it and soon the'll be looking great.

Your thumbnails look like you don't put a lot of effort into them, but that can be fixed! Find a clean, easy image that says something about what your video is about. It can be a still from your video, if you'd like (that's what I do, but I "pose" a bit in my video to get at least a halfway decent shot) with descriptive text over it. You don't really need an expensive graphics program to make decent thumbnails, you can use GIMP, which is free (from what I remember) and is easy to learn.

A lot of people go to a lot of trouble for really well-produced thumbnails, which is awesome, but I find too many of them look pretty much exactly the same.
