Hi guys,

YouTube have removed the music from my Interail video :(

I mentioned the artist's / song names in my decription.

Is there anyway of getting the music back.

The video is almost not worth watching without the music as it will be so boring :(

So annoying as it was a really popular video

Is the music you used Royalty free (with a CC licence), did you have permission to use it or is it YouTube copyright friendly? Not trying to patronise :D

I didnt ask for permisson.

The songs are by famous artists.

Is there anyway I can get permission? Or pay for the songs?[DOUBLEPOST=1455111149,1455110947][/DOUBLEPOST]

Dont think so lol.

You should probably look into finding some royalty free music unfortunately.

Basically using any music that does not belong to you and you use it on your video does not constitute as fair use, even if you don't monetize it that does not matter since YouTube will run it's content ID algorithm on your videos even if they are private and before the upload to check for audio that you don't own. Here is YouTube's policy on fair use but they don't cover music so much. You basically have to find music that are copyright friendly which Royalty free websites will offer you (for free if you credit them). You can also ask for permission to use music or content that you don't own, as long as you get an agreement from them and save that agreement then you can use it then. Saying that with Royalty Free Music you have to make sure that they are offering it for free since Royalty Music is basically when you pay for music once and never have to worry about commercial costs which don't apply to us since YouTube is not classified as a commercial platform. Make sure to check this page (they are at the bottom) as it describes each Royalty licence as not all of them will be offering it for free but most if not all of them will do. So I recommend looking at websites that offer you copyright friendly music like these one's and make sure to check the licences or the websites FAQ on using music (all of them have one describing what you can do with their music):

I know there are some posts out there where people have listed all the websites you can get copyright friendly music from so go check them out.

Thanks guys,

So if I want to add new music to the video will I have to upload the video again = losing all the views / thumbs up?
Looks like it man, they usually give you a copyright notice (which isn't bad) and make money from the video whilst letting you keep the music but as you can see not all of the music networks will let you do it. I think your quite lucky you didn't get a copyright strike though. I mean you don't have to delete it, you could keep the previous video and re-upload a new one and just direct people to watch the new one with audio from your original if you want to keep those views.

YouTube is very strict with its copyright policy. It's always best to use music that you are 100% sure won't cause any issues. There are plenty of resources available online. Even YouTube offers free royalty free music and sound effects, which is worth checking out!
