My Idea

I've Got It
I have this idea that i'm sure will work - but the amount of work to do it is a bit intimidating lol

It started like this, I make music, I self distribute with my own label... I'm #edm #dance, #house but I also have fun experimenting and sometimes venture out into rock, hiphop and other genres....I can do them authentically and love to experiment. i did it for pro production teams in the past, I'm just doing it for myself now...

I started learning cg / animation a few years back, mainly because i wanted it as a way to be different and use it to market my music work.... it's worked out well and I'm gaining attention from just my art work....aside from the people that already like my music work.

anyways, I have this vision now of doing some sort of animated record label - create a website with faux artist pages, give them some sort of history, make music videos of course - but also things like animated artist interviews - for example, I just finished an experimental death metal'ish track - and thought it would be funny to do an interview with the faux artist .....like screaming growling and shouting his responses to interview questions lol even faking a news coverage of a concert that never happened and basically build a virtual world around the label - with websites videos, social networks - i smile at the idea, but i cringe at the todo list.

I have other ideas for making short videos, but everything is pretty much centered around / built up from my music work, now mixed with my cg / animation work.... plust i'm a gamer, so i like to use gta5, space / medieval engineers - being they are youtube friendly and a quick way to get nice youtube friendly footage....

what is intimidating for me, is i'm already doing an insane workload for pretty much pennies, in between freelancing for living expenses - ......but this idea keeps haunting me so i figured i'd post it and see what you guys thought of it. - not saying I'm ready to do it, but putting out feelers to see what the reaction would be...

if you want to see some of the music / art i've done check my twitter@anirhythm.

I say go for it bud. Anything you can do to set yourself apart is good and as long as you enjoy it, you'll be able to find the time. I'll be sure to check it out if you get it going :)

ya, that's what has me thinking.....the fun factor, truth is i am capable of doing it...but i'd turn all techie to keep up and the artist part takes a beating ....mental blocks from creative exhaustion lol - i'm close to it now ....creating new unique music, doing research, administration, promotion, studying / learning more animation skills on the fly .....

when i knew nothing about animation, i had ideas out my ears, when i learned animation, and starting getting good at it ....the techie in me intimidated the artist in me with constantly telling me "Do you have ANY idea how long that would take to make look nice, aside from learning to do it ?!" lol - now I'm willing to compromise with game footage, but not sure what to film anymore - slaps self on my right cheek techie side of my face for scaring the Right hemiphere of my brain!.- - gollum gollum- ^.^

This sounds like one of those big, scary ideas that comes around very rarely. Of course it's going to be a ton of work, and of course the practical side of your brain is trying to talk the artistic side of your brain out of it...that's what happens when you land on an idea that could very well work for you! I say go for it, and quiet that doubtful mind. The worst that could happen is you'd learn a ton of new skills, make some work you're proud of, and show off what you can do.

Thanks :) actually, the idea is bigger than what I've typed ......I've written the first post about 5 times already and didn't post it before this one, talking about different aspects of the bigger picture. The label is just 1 facet of it, I've been working at this for a few years already. and I dreamed it up on a Tolkien / Disney level. ( back when I was more the artist than techie lol ) - Put it to you this way, I'm training myself to be able to teach each department of my company when I can afford a staff lol
