STAY SMOKEY PEOPLE!
This is how I have my workflow for every single video I make:
Step 1. Pick a Game (I record all the games I play at any time just in case I do a video)
Step 2. Watch the footage and skim through to get ideas for the script
Step 3. Write a script that is just more of a bullet point list. I will write the particular jokes I want to say or points I want to make. The elaboration and other stuff are improvised naturally and make it sound like I have no script at all so its easy.
Step 4. Edit all the commentary until it sounds great. (I use audacity and always use the effects Normalize, Noise Removal, Equalization, and all of that). I delete all the silence parts, the parts where I mess up a line of commentary and remove all the "uh" "ah" "um" stuff and splice it all so it sounds like I never did.
Step 5. Toss everything in the editor listen to the commentary and split and move clips to each part so it matches up. (So the commentary comes first, I add the clips AFTER the commentary is recorded not before. Watching footage and doing live commentary is a headache for me and never comes out good)
Step 6. Make sure all the audio levels are right, make the gameplay audio slightly quieter then your commentary or however you want to do it. As long as your commentary is clear but the game audio is still able to be heard.
Step 7. Watch the completed project and make all my minor adjustments. If there are parts in the game I forgot to add i'll add in commentary for that and the clip together then watch the final product.
Step 8. Produce the video and upload it to YouTube.
Step 9. Type my description and tags while its uploading and then check in a separate tab to make sure the video is being ranked at all via generic search like "Night Trap Review" or whatever the video is that way I can see if I am using effective keywords and such. After all that's done you are golden and ready to make the next video!
Extra Tip: Don't worry about if the review is going to get big. Just make what you like because if you play your cards right the subject matter is irrelevant. You see famous YouTubers out there that make videos about going to the grocery store and getting 2.5 million views so nothing you can make is irrelevant.
Also. Don't release the video in a rush to get it out there. Think of every video as your "Magnum Opus" (great work) and release it when it's complete. Trust me... it's better to release a better product a day later then release a sub par one that everyone will hate. Each video you do can make or break that viewer's opinion on your stuff. So make sure it's all as good as you can get it.
If anyone has any questions for me drop me a line here as a reply or PM me on YouTube or whatever the most convenient way is for you. I'll answer any questions you all have.
