Multiple recording programs at once?

I will be recording gameplay audio/video as well as a microphone audio and my webcam video.

Right now I plan on using OBS to record game footage and sound, and Dxtory to record my cam and mic, putting it all together last in editing software. I like the idea of having split channels for everything so I can adjust everything individually later. Does anyone else run two programs at the same time? How do you record your footage?

I record gameplay with bandicam and then everything else externally on a camera and microphone. Running all of that may effect your computers performance :)

I usually have Audacity recording my voice, it uses up barely any processing power and I use Shadowplay to record game footage. Shadowplay is a great piece of software if you have an Nvidia gpu as I notice little to no impact on gameplay performance and the video quality is great.

I used to use Dxtory but its quite a resource hog and the file sizes are ridiculous. A 30 minute video came around 200gb whereas on Shadowplay it's only a few gig. You can optimise Dxtory to get the same results but it's very picky and some settings may work for one person and not another so tutorials don't really help.

Try to limit the amount of things your pc will need to do, it all comes down to gameplay so let that run as best it can. If you want to record a facecam I recommend using a separate device such as a GoPro, a digital camera or even a smart phone as even they can record in 1080p. I've tried using a webcam before and can be hit or miss as screen refreshes can stop a recording.

If you can, use those two peices of software. It's easy to sync up the two audio tracks as you can set Shadowplay to 'push-to-talk' so you can hold down a key, say a few things, click a few fingers, let go and carry on.

Piece of cake!

I record my webcam with generic webcam software, games with Dxtory, and my mic with Audacity. It is a little CPU intensive though...

I had no idea video files could be so large. Seems crazy that a 500$ solid state hard drive can only hold about 2.5 hours of video. Ill definitely check out shadowplay if it can compress videos significantly. I have a 1080p webcam I would like to capture at its highest potential then overlay if on the gameplay later. I also already use audacity so ill be sure to check it for a separate voice channel.
