Another thing that's pretty awesome / motivating is when I go to see what other channels a new sub (any size) is subscribed to and I see my channel alongside maybe 1 or 2 other "big hitters" in my subject area and no other smaller ones like mine. It's kind of reassuring that my content is competing with the big boys.
