Money Earned From Copyright Claim

If I put a copyright claim on someone's video who completely reuploaded mine, where do I see earnings earned from that video? Also, I put the claim on the video after it got 60,000 views. Will I get paid for the 60,000 views before I claimed it as well, or does he get that money?

Depends on the video.

I remember you used to do comps or something so no. that's pretty much impossible. Honestly I can't see how you could even monetize those. which people do all the time. (scummy people)

I THINK you said you were doing top 5's now or something.

If the video he uploaded was to the tee yours. Your voice (if you have it on there) and stuff like that then maybe?

but if it's just the same list like TOP 5 RETRO GAMES

and your list was

1. Super Mario Bros
2. Legend of Zelda
3. Punch Out
4. Anticipation
5. Shatterhand

and his list was

5. Shatterhand

then no.

as for the money. I believe that now if you file a claim any money after the claim was put out and the second before it's resolved gets put into a holding account. and the winner of that bout keeps the revenue.

for the money earned from the beginning I think that gets put into it as well unless it has already been paid out for after that month time.

so if I reuploaded a video from Watch Mojo and they did not claim it in two months the revenue from that two months would technically already be sent to me.
Right?

I think that's how it goes. Someone will probably correct me.

It's not a compilation video and it's not a top 5 video. It's a gaming video I made and the guy literally reuploaded it and now has 100,000 views. I already have the claim on the video, but I'm just curious as to where the money goes.

woah really? That sucks dude.

Yeah the money should be piled into a seperate account and the winner of the claim keeps the rewards.

Hope it gets sorted out!

Have you tried contacting the reuploader besides just claiming the video? He might be able to put a link to your channel in the description or something if you confront him about it, so you wouldn't just be getting the money from it, but you would also be getting some fans to go to your channel as well

Any money already earned on it goes into the pocket of the guy who re-uploaded it.

The video was posted, ads were paid to be displayed on it, that person got paid for those ads. Since you put in a claim, they won't earn any more, but any money already paid is long gone. The only way to get that money back would be to attempt taking the person who re-uploaded it to court (good luck with that).

Thanks everyone -- also, how do I win the claim? Didn't I already win because I claimed the video, or could he still try and dispute it?

Do you really have Content-ID? That's the only way I know of to claim a video and get money from it.

Assuming you do, if he disputes it, then you'll have a chance to reinstate the claim. But then he can appeal it. If he does that, you have the chance of having the video taken down or setting it to where it will get taken down after 7 days if he doesn't cancel the appeal. If he cancels it, he can't appeal again. If it gets taken down, you won't be able to make money from it in the future, and he can submit a counter-notification. If that happens, the only way to keep the video down would be to get a court order for YouTube to keep it down.
